From Aspatial to Spatial, from Global to Local: A Case of Segregation Study

David W. Wong
George Mason University

ABSTRACT

This presentation provides an overview on the nature of spatial data and the need for spatial statistics. However, many spatial measures summarize spatial processes for the entire study area without recognizing spatial heterogeneity. This presentation will use segregation study as an example how spatial measures can be derived from aspatial measure, and how local measures can be related to global measures.
